[...] More than a hundred vehicles have been stranded in Bukit Antarabangsa as the owners are unable to drive them away because the roads have been cut off, following yesterday’s landslide.
David Pragash Fonseka, manager of media services in Bernama, said most of the vehicles belonged to residents living in Oakleaf Park Condiumium at Taman Bukit Jaya, Kyoto Garden and Southern Heights, which are among the few high-rise buildings in the affected area.
“Two police cars and some taxis are among the vehicles up there,” said Fonseka, who was also one of those affected.
He said after the roads were cut off, residents had to walk between three and five kilometres to the town centre to get their essentials.
Fonseka, who is now staying with his mother in Jalan Ipoh after evacuating from his condominium unit at Oakleaf Park yesterday, said he and his family had to leave the unit because electricity had been cut off for safety reasons.
“We had to walk through the jungle near Atheneum Condo to a road which was accessible to vehicles. It was like jungle-trekking all over again, except this time, we were carrying our belongings, valuables and laptops.
“There were so many of us who had to do this. There was no alternative despite the fact that most of us, if not all, were not prepared for this,” he said.
Fonseka hoped the authorities would be able to build an alternative route for their cars to leave the area soon.
“We need our cars to travel to work or else it would be very inconvenient,” he said....read more.
