The state government alleges that Barisan Nasional is wasting public funds by appointing BN candidates who lost in last year's general election as coordinators in the constituencies where they stood.
State Education, Local Government, Housing and Public Transport Committee chairman Nga Kor Ming claimed these coordinators were given salaries of RM3,000 for a state constituency and RM4,500 for a parliamentary constituency, with annual budgets of RM300,000 and RM500,000, respectively.
When asked to name the source of the information, Nga said he had read about it in Chinese newspapers.
He said he also received information on the issue "from a reliable source".
He, however, could not provide information on what these coordinators were supposed to do. - NST
