While the coverage during the first two days was fairly heavy, it was subsequently either given little attention or ignored completely by the mainstream English newspapers.

It is possible that newspaper editors perceive the controversial toll agreements, which had been shrouded in secrecy and a great source of public discontent, to be no longer a newsworthy topic.

However, sources tell The Malaysian Insider that the cutback in coverage was due to pressure by the government to downplay the issue until after the Kuala Terengganu by-election as they were concerned about the amount of coverage that was initially given. [read more]
