[...] Jelapang assemblywoman Hee Yit Foong, who left the opposition DAP to join the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition (BN), is fast becoming the most hated woman in the Chinese community there.
The decision by Ms Hee and three other opposition assemblymen to leave the DAP and become BN-friendly independents gave the coalition enough numbers to take over the state government from the opposition.
Residents of the village said they had originally planned to demonstrate in front of her house, reported the New Straits Times.
But after some convincing from local DAP leaders, the villagers gave up the idea.
Instead, they rallied at the village's market square at 6pm on Friday.
Carrying banners and signs in Chinese and Malay, the villagers, led by Perak DAP Socialist Youth executive director Chai Wee Khun, chanted slogans calling MsHee a traitor to the village and a disgrace. [read more]
