[...] Voicing her concern over what she called the unusually high number of rape cases, Judge Hadhariah Syed Ismail, said the court could not afford to be lenient anymore with those charged with such a serious crime.
“Based on the statistics, there are a very high number of rape cases occurring in Kuantan district.
“As such, we have to be more strict in offering bail,” she told an accused charged with raping an underaged girl.
Mohd Nizam Ibrahim, 36, was said to have raped the 14-year-old girl between 7.30pm and 8.30pm at a workshop in Batu 8, Jalan Gambang, here, in September 2006.[read more]
